Help Make a Rescue Pet’s Christmas Wishes Come True

Letters to Santa are coming back to Hungry Hound, and we’re so excited to bring back a holiday tradition you’ve helped make special year after year. There’s something special about seeing a sweet face on a wish list, learning their name, and picking out gifts just for them. Before you know it, you’re shopping for a dog or cat you haven’t met but already have a soft spot for.

Every pet deserves a little Christmas joy, including the ones still waiting for a family. Through Letters to Santa, we can give local rescue pets something of their own to enjoy while reminding the people caring for them that our community is cheering them on.

Meet the pets behind the wishes

This year, we’re partnering with Humane Indiana, Porter County Animal Shelter, and Lakeshore Paws! Each letter will feature a dog or cat’s photo, name, and three things they’d love to receive for Christmas.

Those little wish lists make the experience personal. You might find yourself drawn to a familiar face, a funny name, or a pet who reminds you of one you’ve loved. Whether you choose one letter or leave with a handful, you’ll have the chance to make the holidays a little brighter for the pets pictured on them.

How to join in

Starting the week of November 8, visit our St. John or Valparaiso store to browse the letters and choose your wish lists. Grab as many as you’d like! You can shop for a pet on your own, make it a family outing, or get a few friends or coworkers together to help fulfill several lists.

Once you’ve picked out your gifts just bring them back to Hungry Hound with their letters. We’ll gather the donations and deliver everything to the rescues before Christmas. You get the fun of choosing the gifts, and we’ll take care of getting them to their recipients.

A little gift can mean so much

For a pet spending the holidays in rescue, a new toy, a favorite treat, or something soft to curl up with can add a little comfort and fun to their day. Choosing something from their own wish list is a thoughtful way to show them some love while they wait for a home.

It’s also a way to support the rescue teams who show up for these animals every day. Their work continues through the holidays, and we’re grateful for the chance to help our customers be part of it.

A tradition we love sharing with you

One of our favorite parts of Letters to Santa is watching how much thought you put into each gift. You take the time to read the letters, look at the photos, and find something special for a pet who might otherwise be a stranger. That kindness is what brings this tradition to life.

We’d love for you to join us again this year, or make it a new tradition if you haven’t participated before. Stop into either Hungry Hound location starting the week of November 8, meet the faces behind the wishes, and help make a rescue dog or cat’s Christmas a little sweeter.
